Gonorrhea (also known as "the clap") is a common STI among gay and bisexual men. Gonorrhea bacteria can cause infections in the urethra, anus and/or throat. By getting treated in time with antibiotics you can prevent yourself from
developing severe health problems.

Gonorrhea In the Butts.

Symptoms of gonorrhea
Anywhere from a few days to two weeks after you have been infected with gonorrhea, you may notice the following symptoms:

-yellow or green pus from your penis
-a burning sensation or irritation when peeing
-a sore throat
-itchiness or irritation in your anus
-pus-like discharge from your anus
-blood with your faeces
-Swelling or pain in or near your balls

These symptoms do not appear with every infection. That means that you might not always notice an infection with gonorrhea. Oftentimes, rectal and throat infections are asymptomatic. That means you can walk around with a gonorrhea infection and not know it.

If you get gonorrhoea in your eyes, the symptoms are generally pain and discharge from your eyes.(one way of getting gonorrhea in the eyes is by a infected person coming on your face or touching your eyes with contaminated hands or mouth)

Treatment of gonorrhea
The treatment consists of an injection with antibiotics. If you are not treated with antibiotics, the symptoms usually disappear after a couple of weeks, but the bacteria will not have disappeared from your body. You can get very serious health problems later, including an extremely painful infection of the tubes attached to your testicles (epididymides).

The standard treatment for gonorrhea is 250 mg of ceftriaxone (Rocephin) plus 1 g of azithromycin in a single dose.

Unfortunately, there has been a high incidence of drug resistance with regards to gonorrhea these days and doctors are struggling with other stronger antibiotics but sometimes to no avail.

After having been treated, you will not be immune to gonorrhea. That means that you could still be reinfected with it. Because gonorrhea is so contagious, it is important that your current sex partners get treated at the same time as you. That way you can avoid transmitting it back and forth to each other.

Transmission of gonorrhea
Gonorrhea is a highly contagious STI. You can get gonorrhea through fucking and getting fucked, through giving and getting blow jobs, through "dry fucking" (rubbing a penis along the outside of an anus), or by rubbing two or more penises together. Gonorrhea can also be transmitted between you and your sex partner via fingers.

Pharyngeal infections:  Recent studies have shown that men can carry Neisseria gonorrhoeae in their throats for weeks or months without symptoms and can readily spread the infection through unprotected oral sex

Also, surveys of men who have sex with men (MSM) indicate that saliva is commonly used as a lubricant for anal sex. Australian investigators have estimated that about half of rectal gonorrhea in MSM would be eliminated if they stopped using their partner’s saliva for this purpose (Sex Trans Infect. 2016 Mar 3. pii:sextrans-2015-052502. doi: 10.1136/sextrans-2015-052502).

And then there is French kissing. Deep kissing another guy ro a few guys can help spread gonorrhea.
Condoms are the best way to reduce the risk of infection with gonorrhea.

Testing for gonorrhea
By getting tested for gonorrhea you can find out whether or not you have it, and if you do, you can quickly be treated to prevent further problems for yourself and your sex partners. The test for gonorrhea consists of a urine analysis and swabs taken from your anus and/or throat. A swab will often be taken from your urethra as well.

If you have symptoms that could point to gonorrhea, get yourself tested as soon as possible. If it turns out that you do have gonorrhea, notify your sex partners about that. That way, they can also get tested and receive treatment. The GGD can help you do that anonymously.

What If I’m Hiv Positive?
If you’re poz and you’re on treatment, gonorrhea will not affect you any differently than it would for a neg guy. However if you’re a poz guy with gonorrhoea and you are not on HIV treatment, gonorrhoea can increase the risk of HIV transmission to your HIV negative sexual partner(s). So, for added protection it’s always a good idea to use condoms to ensure you and your partner(s) stay safe.

If I’m On Prep How Will Gonorrhoea Affect Me?
PrEP is highly effective at preventing HIV, however it does not provide protection against gonorrhoea. If you would like added protection against gonorrhoea, consider also using condoms and plenty of lube as part of your safe sex mix.

Gay Health News parting words and reminder : Gonorrhea Is Spread Through Touch—Not Semen Or Blood
Condoms do a good job of helping to prevent gonorrhea transmission. But they’re not 100%, and that’s because of how gonorrhea is spread. A gonorrhea infection is caused by the bacteria N. gonorrhoeae, which can infect the mucous surfaces of the urethra (in the penis), rectum (butt), and throat and even eyes.

Gonorrhea is spread by coming into contact with an infected body part. That means you can transmit gonorrhea even if there’s no semen or blood exchanged during sex. If you have gonorrhea in your penis and you touch your penis and then finger your partner’s butt, you can give your partner gonorrhea in in their butt, for instance. I’ve seen people who say, “I’m a top! How did I get gonorrhea in my butt?” Maybe their partner put their fingers in their butt, or they shared a sex toy. You can get a rectal gonorrhea infection even if you don’t bottom. The infection can even spread from your penis to your butt because they are so close to each other. You can get or give gonorrhea through mutual masturbation. There are a lot of ways it can spread.

Always be careful and try to be less promiscuous. A Monogamous relationship and is  the best and safest.
